It is mandatory to have a COVIDSafe Plan for every Victorian business with on-site operations.

Random compliance checks are being conducted, so it is important that your plan is current and appropriately documented. Fines for non-compliance are significant.

It is not sufficient to simply follow the government requirements, you must have a COVIDSafe Plan in place.

Your COVIDSafe Plan must demonstrate:

  • your actions to help prevent the introduction of COVID-19 to your workplace
  • the type of face mask or personal protective equipment (PPE) required for your workforce
  • how you will prepare for, and respond to, a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in your workplace
  • how you will meet all the requirements set out by the Victorian Government. Some industries or workplaces are subject to additional industry obligations and have additional requirements of employers and employees.

Businesses must regularly review and update their COVIDSafe Plans, particularly as restrictions changes. If you have multiple worksites, you must have a separate plan for each site.

COVIDSafe Plan Templates

The Victorian Government have provided a Template you can use to develop your COVIDSafe Plan. Whilst its not mandatory to use their template, to ensure your plan is compliant, we would highly recommend you use their template as a base for your own plan.

PDF and Word Victorian Government Templates (current as at 24 November 2021) can be downloaded here

COVIDSafe Plan review service

The Victorian Government is offering a free service to review your COVIDSafe Plan.

The reviews will be conducted by Ernst & Young and will help to ensure your plan reflects the current requirements. The review will help identify any gaps and provide advice on how the plan is being implemented.

To book a review, you can email covidsafeplanreview@djpr.vic.gov.au  with your business name, a contact name and phone number.
